Monthly Project Update – April 28, 2023

Garden State Parkway Exit 105 Monthly Update: 04/28/23

The message below contains important project updates for the GSP Interchange 105 Improvement Project and will be posted on a monthly basis, during the last week of the month, through the end of 2023. The next update will be posted during the week of May 12, 2023.

FOUR WEEK SCHEDULE AS OF April 28, 2023:

Work Area C – Str. 106.4I & Str. 106.4NO – Ramp E3, South Bound Inner Lanes Exit

• This stage is considered substantially complete.

Work Area D – Str. 106.5NO – Ramp E7, North Bound Inner Entrance

• This stage is considered substantially complete.

Work Area A – Str. 106.3I, Str. 106.4NO and Str. 106.4A – Ramp E1, South Bound Entrance

• During the week of May 1, 2023, crews will install roadway subgrade and asphalt for the bridge approaches.
• During the week of May 8, 2023, crews will install guide rail and roadway stripes in anticipation of the ramp opening.
• The ramp is scheduled to be opened May 12, 2023.

Work Area B – Str. 106.4I, Str. 106.4NO and Str. 106.4 SO – Ramp E2, South Bound Outer Lanes Exit

• During the week of May 1, 2023, crews will continue with demolition of piers and wing walls for Str. 106.4I.  
• During the week of May 8, 2023, crews will begin with begin with the installation of drill and grout reinforcement steel for Str. 106.4I. 
• During the week of May 15, 2023, crews will begin concrete repairs on Str. 106.4SO.

SBO to SBI (Local to Express) Crossover – MP 108.6

• During the day of March 10, 2023, crews opened the crossover to traffic.

FOUR WEEK SCHEDULE AS OF April 13, 2023:

Work Area C – Str. 106.4I & Str. 106.4NO – Ramp E3, South Bound Inner Lanes Exit

• During the week of March 6, 2023, work on Str. 106.4I was completed.
• During the night of March 11, 2023, traffic was opened to the South Bound Inner Exit Ramp.
• This stage is considered substantially complete.

Work Area D – Str. 106.5NO – Ramp E7, North Bound Inner Entrance

• During the week of February 27, 2023, work on Str. 106.5NO was completed.
• During the night of March 6, 2023, traffic was opened to the North Bound Inner Entrance Ramp.
• This stage is considered substantially complete.

Work Area A – Str. 106.3I, Str. 106.4NO and Str. 106.4A – Ramp E1, South Bound Entrance

• During the week of April 10, 2023, crews installed parapet concrete at 106.4A and parapet reinforcement at Str. 106.3I.
• During the week of April 17, 2023, crews will install parapet concrete at Str. 106.3I and perform spall repairs at Str. 106.4NO.
• During the week of May 1, 2023, crews will install the parapet for Str. 106.4NO.
• Asphalt is scheduled to be installed the week of May 8, 2023.

Work Area B – Str. 106.4I & Str. 106.4NO – Ramp E2, South Bound Outer Lanes Exit

• During the week of April 17, 2023, demolition will begin with saw cutting and removing the superstructure for Str. 106.4I.
• During the week of May 1, 2023, crews will begin demolition of piers for Str. 106.4I.  

SBO to SBI (Local to Express) Crossover – MP 108.6

• During the week of March 6, 2023, crews finished installation of ground mounted signs.
• During the day of March 10, 2023, crews opened the crossover to traffic.
